Textured and Trying

  Hi all - no beauty posts this month. I’m honestly not excited about anything I got in my September boxes, and my Mega Drop Shop from BoxyCharm came today. It’s the 29th. It’s just not enough time. The selections for IPSY weren’t great, my BoxyCharm had a couple okay things in it, and Kinder had another facial oil. I’m just feeling a little done. I plan to pick back up for October and use all these Mega Drop Shop items as a secondary BoxyCharm post, so don’t worry. It’s just this month I couldn’t bring myself to get excited about anything besides my                               PROMOTION!! At work!!! I got promoted to Store Manager at my job! Several more dollars and a lot more stress and responsibility.   I’ve been thinking about doing a post like this for so long! And the other day I finally hit pan on my very favorite six-pan palette from Juvia’s Place and realized it’s about time. A few years ago I was starting to experiment more with makeup, and I was moving on from chill, neutral tutorials to more colorful and full glam looks. So I was in the market for a brand that lent itself well to experimentation and wasn’t super expensive. I had previously tried some of Beauty Bakerie’s products and really liked those, but they were often sold out of my shades and since they were a small business their variety wasn’t great. I had always wanted to try the foundation, but couldn’t get the one I wanted because they had been sold out for months.   Crazy month of beauty boxes. I’m still trying out some of the products and there were some serious disappointments but we’re here and I’m looking forward to fall and the fall products I’m getting. I’d like to make this brief since my posts were so much longer than normal this month and I have a ton of work to do to get ready for BoxyCharm’s mega drop shop. I was not happy with my Kinder Beauty Box this month. I found it disingenuous that the star of the palette is a clearance item that has errors all over its packaging and that the box is themed around a sample size of a product you need to use consistently to see results. I broke out in almost every place I used the shave cream (which, by the way, still can’t smell any lime or coconut, just mint), and nail serum is useless to me. The brush trio is a keeper but that just doesn’t make the box a good box.   Hi again! It’s time to go over my Kinder Beauty Box and add-ons for August. There were some misses and a couple of hits, but overall I honestly wasn’t wowed by anything. Just some nice stuff and a couple things I wasn’t interested in so we’ll talk about it. This is the second box I’ve received from this brand, and I’d been looking forward to it; I’m pretty used to the interface online so I saw the preview of the two boxes - which is another thing I have thoughts on. I understand that it might seem interesting to have different boxes with different setups, but the variation is so small with this subscription that it’s almost silly. Both boxes have The same palette, the same brush set, the same nail serum, and the same brand of shaving cream (but a different scent). The only item that is actually different is the eight dollar soap or the ten dollar moisturizer.
