Brands I Love - Updated for 2023


Wanted to get an updated list of the brands I’m currently obsessed with now that I’ve been trying all sorts of new things and making discoveries ^-^ I’m not currently using all of these brands in my everyday routine, but these are brands that I’ve found consistent quality with:


Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin- this one’s just a no-brainer, have yet to try a face, skin, or body product from them that I have no loved or been able to make work. Even the one face highlighter I didn’t love I was able to improve on with setting spray. 


FAB (First Aid Beauty)- for body and face, mostly wins. Still using their skin smoothie primer on the daily. Looking forward to trying more of their products.


Frank Body- great scrubs, will be adding more of their items on my boxes if I can. I think they’re going to be a huge part of my routine.


Ciate London- idky, but I have just been really enjoying everything that I’m getting from this brand. Highlighters, mascaras, skin tint, palette, everything’s been really good. I was under the impression that this was more of a drugstore brand? And maybe they are, I just was sleeping on their products because they’re really fire.


TYNT Beauty- I’m still repurchasing that watermelon mask I got months ago. I go through them so fast. And I’m almost out of their setting spray, I’ve been using that to put on highlighter. So far, total wins from this brand.


Juvia’s Place- I still reach for their six-pan palettes when I feel colorful, and still have a stockpile of some of their serums for armageddon. Can’t say enough good about their products. 


Fleur+Bee- absolutely love their moisturizer and mask I got from my Kinder Box, have been repurchasing both consistently.

  Hi all!  This is going to be a monthly post comparing any beauty boxes I receive and try out. Right now I only have two beauty subscription boxes, IPSY and BoxyCharm, but eventually I’d like to get a few more. I won’t probably go super in-depth in these posts because I lay everything out in my individual reviews, but I think it’s important to compare value for the cost, convenience, variety, and personalization. What I look for from a beauty box is the same thing I look for from a music streaming service; I want mostly my music, some similar music, and something off the wall once in a while to keep it interesting. I want a good amount of things that I’ve said I like or use a lot, a few things that I’ve indicated I might like or use sometimes, and maybe one item that’s totally out there for me that is a shot in the dark that maybe I have never used before. Obviously you want the company you’re getting it from to have personalization - at least a little bit, like they should know

IPSY May ICON Box, ABH, swatches and more!

  Time to talk about the Spring ICON Box! It was a little complicated but I’m mostly really enjoying the stuff I got. Like we’ve said before, the ICON Box happens every three months, so once a season, and it’s basically a vamped up version of the BoxyCharm (previously Glam Bag Plus). It has a celebrity curator usually, so the marketing is that these are this person’s recommended items, they “curated” the box. And like, fair enough. It’s cool to think that not only is IPSY selecting for you, but also a professional makeup artist or makeup enthusiast had a hand in it too. This month Anastasia Beverly Hills was the curator, so the first three products are actually from her brand. I guess I don’t mind so much that their favorite products are from their own brand, that’s a smart thing to do. Obviously these curators need to be incentivised, and maybe instead of paying them, IPSY just lets them plug their brands? But before we talk about ICON, I’d like to briefly give an honorable ment

July BoxyCharm Swatches and Thoughts

  Hiii hello how’s it going? July’s box was very interesting and I liked a lot of what I got. And I added a lot and then I also bought a lot . My credit card bill is not small. I have made tactical errors. So the first item IPSY chose for me is the Brazilian Glow Eyeshadow Palette from Ciate London . I feel like I’m seeing a lot more of this brand on IPSY, both in their default choices and their selection and add-ons.  This palette is the biggest palette I’ve received or bought in a while . It’s absolutely huge. It’s got 24 pans. They’re rectangle pans, so they are a little slimmer, but still a good size and honestly more realistic. Am I really going to hit pan? You know? So it’s got a really good mix of mattes, shimmer, and demi-shimmer shades and the color story is cohesive enough that the palette feels put together but varied enough that you know there are so many looks you can do with it.
