Skincare Faves and Routine

I do not even have a cohesive routine right now though, and I'm trying to update this page, and I feel so silly because I spend so much time on my skincare all the time and I have no idea what I use, and I spend so much money on my skincare and my face looks like shit right now because I tore it open a few days ago because I was having a huge fight with my man and things are bad and my skincare stings and my makeup clings to the stinging bits and I do not feel pretty.

And then I think to myself, what am I using on my skin right now to make my skin nice and healthy, and it's like, it doesn't even matter, it is not healthy, all this money literally down my bathroom drain just to keep stinging.

But then I rememeber I used to pick my face every day, sometimes a few times a day, and now it happens maybe once or twice every few months, I've almost gone entire seasons of the year without doing it, and that's the same thing as progress. I'm letting go of it easier too, it used to be a huge downward spiral but I get out of it more often.

Anyway - right now I'm using the JunoCo skin cleansing balm to take makeup off and usually just a Burt's Bees exfoliator when I scrub. When I need the extra face wash I use whatever came in my beauty boxes or my Fenty Skin one. I love the fenty skincare. 

I use the Fat Water by Fenty Skin as my main serum, every day twice a day. I love the texture and I notice that when I do pick at my skin, the niacinamide helps fade the redness. I follow up with a peptide serum from Drunk Elephant - I just like it a lot for some reason. I also twice a day apply my TonyMoly eye cream.

    For moisturizer I use whatever I'm looking at, any day cream, sometimes just a primer. I like the Fleur and Bee H2Ohyeah cream, it's light and feels refreshing, I also like the FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Primer, it gives a lot of shine and my foundations go really well over top of it. At night I use the Tatcha dewy skin cream, the most luxurious and expensive skincare item I've ever purchased with my own money at retail prices. 

My favorite moisturizing mask is the TYNT Beauty Cucumber Melon Gel Mask, I'm literally wearing it right now, it's just such a nice gel I can wear not to pick and to feel refreshed. It's very summer. 

And that's my skincare routine - or lack thereof >.> I don't use as many sheet masks as I used to, mostly because I spend less time just sitting around knitting. And y'all know I constantly try new products, so check back on the monthly to see what I'm using now and whether I find something that really does handle my self-inflicted texture ^-^

IPSY May ICON Box, ABH, swatches and more!

  Time to talk about the Spring ICON Box! It was a little complicated but I’m mostly really enjoying the stuff I got. Like we’ve said before, the ICON Box happens every three months, so once a season, and it’s basically a vamped up version of the BoxyCharm (previously Glam Bag Plus). It has a celebrity curator usually, so the marketing is that these are this person’s recommended items, they “curated” the box. And like, fair enough. It’s cool to think that not only is IPSY selecting for you, but also a professional makeup artist or makeup enthusiast had a hand in it too. This month Anastasia Beverly Hills was the curator, so the first three products are actually from her brand. I guess I don’t mind so much that their favorite products are from their own brand, that’s a smart thing to do. Obviously these curators need to be incentivised, and maybe instead of paying them, IPSY just lets them plug their brands? But before we talk about ICON, I’d like to briefly give an honorable ment

July BoxyCharm Swatches and Thoughts

  Hiii hello how’s it going? July’s box was very interesting and I liked a lot of what I got. And I added a lot and then I also bought a lot . My credit card bill is not small. I have made tactical errors. So the first item IPSY chose for me is the Brazilian Glow Eyeshadow Palette from Ciate London . I feel like I’m seeing a lot more of this brand on IPSY, both in their default choices and their selection and add-ons.  This palette is the biggest palette I’ve received or bought in a while . It’s absolutely huge. It’s got 24 pans. They’re rectangle pans, so they are a little slimmer, but still a good size and honestly more realistic. Am I really going to hit pan? You know? So it’s got a really good mix of mattes, shimmer, and demi-shimmer shades and the color story is cohesive enough that the palette feels put together but varied enough that you know there are so many looks you can do with it. My Planner and my Stickers and my Colored Pens

  I did not have to try very hard in school and never learned how to keep myself organized. Even in classes where I struggled, there was always extra credit, there was always something I could do. But I didn’t challenge myself, it was more just mindless busywork. Lots of words on a page that sounded fancy but maybe didn’t say much. Very detailed, handwritten notes on something I didn’t understand. A very well-put presentation, but at base value just word salad. My teachers liked me because I was a good communicator. I was polite and respectful and minded my own business and I coasted through on sheer reading level and writing talent. I sometimes wish maybe I had been a little behind the curve so I could have learned hard work and perseverance. But it wasn’t my fate. I’m obsessed with buying and writing in notebooks.
